HOW WE IMPART EDUCATION

What is the Meaning of Curriculum

The meaning of curriculum is the all the experiences, activities and events, whether direct or indirect which occur in an environment specially planned to foster children’s learning and holistic development. In simple term Curriculum is a plan for learning.

Early Childhood or Child initiated curriculum is appropriately related to the child’s developmental readiness, interests, questions, style of learning and the cultural context in which the child finds himself.

Broad goals of our ECC-early childhood curriculum

 Children’s interest and background is used as a basis for activities.
 Provision for individual and group participation.
 Opportunity for holistic development.
 An interest and awareness about the world around them is stimulated and sustained
 Scope for creativity and new discoveries.
 An opportunity to develop problem solving skills , decision making skills etc.
 An opportunity to develop appropriate communication skills and language development.
 An atmosphere which is warm, nurturing and conducive for stimulating love for learning.
 Develop personal social and emotional skills, independence and age appropriate self-help skills.

Cognitive

Cognitive development involves the way children think, develop understanding about the world, and use what they learn to reason and solve problems. They use all their senses and motor skills actively to construct their own understandings about the people and objects in their environments.

Physical Development

Physical development is the result of interaction of genetics, experience, nutrition, care, play, and exercise Changes in Body: Age 2 to 6 is a time of rapid physical growth, Bodies become longer, more slender, Bones harden, Brain Development-Neural impulses become faster and more precise This Progressive neuromuscular development brings remarkable changes in the Motor area.
 Require the use of large muscle groups to perform tasks like walking,balancing, crawling.
 The skill required is not extensive and therefore are usually associated with continuous tasks.
 Much of the development of these skills occurs during early childhood.
 Require the use of smaller muscle groups to perform tasks that are precise in nature like Grasping, Fastening, Tying knots, open / close lid of bottles, cutting with scissors
 Discrete tasks usually require more fine motor skill than gross motor skills

Creativity

Children's responses to what they see, hear and experience through their senses are individual and the way they represent their experiences is unique and valuable
 Taking risks
 Making connections
 Explorations of their own ideas,
 Expressing them through movement,
 Making and transforming things using media and materials such as crayons, paints, scissors, words, sounds, movement, props and makebelieve. .

Young Children’s social-emotional development involves the way they feel about themselves, their understanding of feelings, their ability to regulate emotions and express them appropriately, and their capacity for building relationships with others.

Language and communication

Children pass through specific stages in the acquisition of language. From cooing, babbling to single words they start structuring more complex sentences. To be able to achieve this they need to be helped and guided to achieve certain goals like develop fluency, ability to speak, Correct usage of words, express themselves with appropriate emotions, to be able to name, classify and describe to organize their thoughts etc.
